So I was charged £15 for P&P for items that cost £2.14 to send

I bought several items off a seller thinking she would reduce her postage charge (she agreed to this in an email beforehand but we did not agree the exact amount).

She then charged me £15 for postage which was cheaper than the individual posting would have costed, but was still excessive! I emailled her several times but she would not budge.

Should I:

  • complain to Ebay
  • leave negative feedback
  • leave neutral feedback
  • ignore it

Franny you are being very sensible!
Its true that the seller was fairly clear about rip off postage to start with (£4 a pop), so perhaps would have been wise to double check costs first.

Having had a few bad experiences on ebay I only bid on more than one thing if I know the seller.
That said, I dont really use ebay anymore as I got hacked off with stuff like this happening...

And good luck with the bustle MP!

morningpaper · 11/04/2009 21:24

I fear I will need more than a bustle to distract from the terrifying reality of my thighs

dammit

I would be thinner if you hadn't made me eat the chocolate

Sorry MP but lol at this. You have been royally stitched up I fear. £15 for posting feathers? They saw you coming.

Also idly wondering how the feck you make a bustle and whether it would not be cheaper and easier just to buy a ready made one..

morningpaper · 11/04/2009 21:25

well it would have been cheaper to buy one if I had known about the fecking postage

You need to go out there and shoot a pig'heon

(spanish accent)

How he get up there?

Dumbledoresgirl · 11/04/2009 21:38

Oh my dear, wouldn't we all be thinner if chocolate had never been introduced to Europe? Those Spanish conquistidors have a lot to answer for.

She definately deserved a neagative. Did you report her to Ebay - her costs were so definately excessive. I found this

elfinblast · 13/04/2009 02:25

Similar thing happened to DH. Luckily he had a new bank account linked to paypal and a week or so later it rejected the payment and recalled the funds. We sent a cheque for the cost of item, actual postage and what we thought was a fair amount for the packaging.

If it was me I'd complain to ebay (and if you paid via paypal them too). You won't lose anything and the seller can't give you bad feedback now anyway.

crokky · 13/04/2009 07:44

The seller has been immoral.

I do think she has also broken eBay rules on excessive postage costs and think that you could successfully report her and get some money back.

She has also broken rules by sending an abusive email.

Personally I would have left feedback saying,

"Seller agreed to combine postage and did so. However, charged £15 for a packet that cost £2.14 to send!"

SoupDreggon · 13/04/2009 07:59

TBH, I would have refused to pay when invoiced for £15 P&P. It was clear at that point it would cost nowhere near that amount to post them.

purepurple · 13/04/2009 08:04

OP
you should have left negative feedback
otherwise she will continue to rip people off

Blackduck · 13/04/2009 08:50

I know people who do this all the time - they will always vastly overcharge on the postage as it makes them a nice profit.... Think it stinks personally...

lljkk · 13/04/2009 08:52

It is blatent fee avoidance. You would be in your rights to report her to Ebay for it.

johnworf · 13/04/2009 08:57

If you've paid by paypal you can always file a dispute. Paypal aren't always sympathetic though but it's worth a punt.
