... if it'd be possible to collect.

Would it seem churlish of me to say no?

I'm not particularly thrilled at the idea of a perfect stranger coming to my home.

What do you guys think?

Thanks in advance

I always refuse collection in person.

HecatesTwopenceworth · 28/03/2009 13:56

dunno. Wouldn't bother me, but if you're not comfortable then no, of course you're not unreasonable. (you do know they can get your address from ebay anyway though?)

is it a regular ebayer with good feedback? might feel safer for you.

Or is it a small item that you could arrange to meet them in town or something?

Geepers · 28/03/2009 14:06

I love it when people collect. It saves packaging it, paypal fees (I ask for cash only) and traipsing to the post office.

He's going to have your address anyway, so I wouldn't be concerned about a weirdo turning up.

PfftTheMagicDragon · 28/03/2009 14:11

If you do allow collection in person you should specify cash. DO NOT take paypal, as they can pay, collect, claim you never posted it (you have no proof they came to get it) and get a refund.

Wuxiapian · 28/03/2009 14:14

ilove, what reasons do you give?

Hecates, buyer has 400+ feedback - 100% - all as a buyer.

It's not a large item, only a item of clothing. Still, just prefer to keep myself and my home private, somehow.

How do I tell buyer "no", in the nicest posible way?

Thaks

Geepers, I've already paid fees to list it - auction has 8 days to go.

Someone's also placed a bid on item, so it's not possible to change it now, is it?

Thanks.

Geepers means the paypal fees that you pay when someone pays for it via paypal at the end of the auction.

If you want to say no, I would say something like you work away a lot, or you are going away, or you have relatives visiting and it is not convenient. It should not be prohibitive as it is only a small item and won't cost much to post.

ilove · 28/03/2009 14:39

I simply reply...

"Sorry,I don't do collection as am not a shop, just a private seller"

I know they can get my address from ebay, but I stilldon't like the thought of someone turningup to collect and pay cash.

Lilyloo · 28/03/2009 20:01

If it's only clothing i wouldn't bother tbh won't be much postage anyway!
Just say you prefer to post item as you are very busy.

shhhh · 29/03/2009 22:01

Just say its postal only as you work odd hours and atm are hard to tie down iykwim....

Wuxiapian · 30/03/2009 07:57

Thanks, guys.

I said I have relatives to stay from next weekend.

I think they've stopped watching item now.

Ah well.
