Ok. Why is ebay fundamentally different on my new laptop? The time remaining is not static...it is continuously counting in real time

So normally when you view an item it shows the time remaining and then you have to refresh to change the clock.

On my new (shiney ) laptop it is continuously counting down as though the page is constantly refreshing. Whats new? I like it.

Also the description panel is as a tabbed layout with the postage and stuff on a seperate tab whuch I think will take a little more getting used to...

How can it be different on 2 computors. I am using IE on both (though may be different versions).

Humph, now you is just showing off...

You know that is bad form right?

SlightlyMadScotland · 19/03/2009 23:11

I was just clarifying cos there is clearly new and shiney new.

Pretty basic spec though so I don't think it is that clever.

Right now though I am going to put him to bed to get some beauty sleep...

My laptop is sulking now.

There is a thing on the help pages of eBay, that sellers can put a countdown thingy on if they want. But why do you get it and we don't?

SlightlyMadScotland · 19/03/2009 23:13

Dunno I get it on ALL listings less than 24hrs remaining. It doesn't appear to be "optional".

I am searching the community forums on ebay without much luck...lots of complaining about automatic invoices though.

Nooooo.... I want to know now - I want a countdown thingy!

Seriously I am a little more intrigued than I probably should be! Let us know if you ever work it out!

SlightlyMadScotland · 20/03/2009 14:42

Still can't work it out.

Still bugging me.

small progress here is the ebay announcement saying what they will be doing.

and here

Why haven't they done it to both of my computors?

more progress

It appears that ebay have been selectively exposing users. Changing browser is reported to get you "selected"...I guess it is driven by cookies. And my new laptop just being 3 days old doesn't have any cookies.

Can't relate to ebay account....must be cookies.

SMS, I replied three times saying that Iwas going to clear my cache and test the theory but MN wouldn't let me post - not that I blame them

Anyway, I did and it made no difference, however, I want the countdown so i am going to keep trying

let us know if you get anymore clues!
