Is there a site or software that will put my bid in at the last minute and scupper the competition?

I successfully won an item using goofbay a few weeks ago.

I set it up to bid at 7 seconds before the end of the auction.

I was prepared to pay £250 for the item, so I bid £251.23 or something like that, just incase someone else was sniping at the same level at the same time.

It worked for me!

Thanks, I've just signed up to AuctionStealerUK (because it was free & the others appeared to cost). It says it will bid 10 - 20 seconds before the end of the auction - does that sound OK?

There is a sight like that pretty sure they charge tho. I am an ebay addict including cars/ caravans/ vans baby stuff and everything inbetween. My method is to decide v early on how much I am willing to spend on whatever it is and if it is still below that amount I bid with about 20 seconds to go.( keep refreshing and as soon as it says 20seconds bid!) Its too easy in the heat of the moment to get carried away and bid more than you should. Bidding your max in the last 20 seconds means that:

a) it will auto bid up to that amount for you dependant on what others have put as a max bid.

b) Anyone else watching will probably not have time to bid in response.

c) You won't have time to put in an extra bid in the heat of the moment that is above your calm considered and sensible bidding limit.

Good luck...

I use AuctionSniper.com

It bids in the last 3 seconds for you. I think you get the first 10 snipes free and then earn free snipes by recommending friends. I've never paid yet and have used it loads.

goofbay didn't charge me

TheMoistWorldOfSeptimusQuench · 05/03/2009 22:49

Thanks for good advice everyone.

Kitkat - despite numerous attempts, I've never won anything by bidding in the last few seconds. I either leave it too late or my PC is too slow or something [useless emoticon]

Will look at AuctionSniper and goofbay too.
