when you buy and wish to pay by cheque....

It's not something I have done and so I have never seen the procedure from the buyer's side.
Do you get a page with the seller's name and address on? How is it worded (roughly) ie does it say something along the lines of "please make cheque payable to Jane Smith"
Do you get all the information without waiting for an invoice?

They usually email you with all the details (as they're notified by ebay that the item has been sold).

They have normally messaged me for my details and included their details in with their payment.

I'm selling.
I just want to know if, once bought and a buyer clicks on "pay by cheque" if they get told who to make the cheque payable to.

Hi 6LM, when a buyer clicks to pay by cheque when the options page come up, the next page will have your ebay registered name and address.

You can have it so that additional payment details appear on the side of the invoice along with your shop logo. Go to marketing tools, customise invoice then add custom message.
I have a request to make cheques payable to N Oliver rather than my shop name of big beautiful bras as my bank ac is in my name - not the shops.

I have my invoice set out clearly in the way you do.
The reason I'm asking about the pre-invoice procedure is I have just had a sale on my non business account and they went through the cheque check out thing before I had chance to send an invoice. I did however send an invoice within an hour or so. Anyway, the cheque has arrived and they have made it payable to mysillyebayname rather than my name.

It's the first time this has happened so i reckon I can put it down to them being new - but it did make me curious about how clear the checkout is.

Just thought of something else, ebay also have addresses in sections so registered address, payment address, and buying addresses.
It would be your payment address that came up during check out and for some reason ebay do not always transfer your reg address over, so sometimes the buyer sees 'no address on file' and has to contact the seller. This has not happened in this case (unless the address was there and no name?).
