How long is fair to delay payment

I want to bid on a large (expensive) baby item which ends today (will be around £150 I anticipate) but won't hsave funds for this until next weekend. Is that too long to postpone paying with paypal do you think?

Item ends v. soon!

You should probably ask the seller if they would accept that. I have seen some auctions specify 3 days for payment.

I thin that's far too long.

BakewellTarts · 20/02/2009 14:54

Unless I'd agreed with the seller to delay payment before bidding I wouldn't...I think its a bit long.

i always e mail before hand and ask if i was to win money doesn't come in till so and so can i pay then please sellers have always been kind if i have asked but they'll tell you either way if they need money sooner or ok

bubblagirl · 20/02/2009 14:55

oh and i dont bid until i have had reply

hobbgoblin · 20/02/2009 14:55

Okay, thanks. I won't bid in that case. They accept cheque or paypal and have not specified a payment time. I normally pay within the hour but as this is pricey and I am moving house this week I know all funds are used!

ask them if they would be ok for payment then i had some lovely people say yes that's fine and i keep them informed along the way when i will paying etc so they don't panic

Hmm it went for £15 than the website price from the manufacturer so with postage of £9.99, not much of a saving. I didn't bid as there wasn't time to ask really but will remember that for future reference, thank you!
