I sold my mums old mobile for her on ebay and the winner has no feedback history at all - which made me uneasy - has been a member of ebay since February but hasnt done any transactions obviously.

Also he has now paid me with an e-cheque -so what I want to know is do I have to accept the payment by e-cheque when I stated Paypal payments only and do you think I am right to be worried at his lack of feedback?

I have since changed all my settings - didnt know I could do this before!

I have been stung before on Paypal and I am aware that he can reclaim the money back and I am left with no item and no money - or is it different with e-cheque in that Paypal dont have to go to his bank to claim the money and therefore less risk of me being left covering the cost?

Any advice appreciated.

I think you would be struggling to refuse his e-cheque unless you have specifically stated you don't accept e-cheques. He has after all paid by paypal, and this was your only requirement. You obviously know not to send the phone until it has cleared (which will take about 10 days), and you should be covered by paypals seller protection providing you post by special or recorded delivery.

you cant refuse e-cheques, as that is still a paypal payment! If you put in your listings that you dont accept e-cheques, ebay will pull your listings and might even suspend you.

As long as you send my special delivery you will be covered by paypals seller protection. Obviolsy, do not send til you get teh all-clear from paypal.
