Mmmm this is a first - buyer wants to send cash in post

sold some in the night garden toys at weekend, buyer (only 1 feedback and bought something back in august) wants to send cash (inside a christmas card so indetectable) I am not sure about this as did specifically state paypal/cheque/postal order on the item description

What would you do

ask them to get a postal order, its safer

Do they cost much to buy (sorry a bit dim as never bought one as always pay via paypal)

I have accepted cash before but not for a long time. If you do agree, make sure the buyer knows it's entirely at their own risk.

i would say ok, but if it gets lost it's his responsibility.

i used to do this all the time bfore paypal and all that and never had a problem

I've had people send cash through the post before - Paypal rules don't apply if the person pays by another method.

Personally, if it was over a £5, I'd send it recorded but otherwise I'd say it's perfectly fine.

But, yes, as Mogs says, make the risk clear.

I have received cash in the post for Ebay stuff before, and as long as it is well concealed, then it should be ok - but again it should be at the risk of the sender. I think PO;s are about 50p to get.

£0 - £4.99 50p
£5 - £9.99 £1.00
£10 - to maximum value of £250 10% of the face value
Fees capped at £10.00

But maybe they cant get to a post office?

I'll post within 48 hours of receiving funds (it may be worth sending the money recorded delivery - for your protection its only around an additional 60p or alternatively a crossed postal cheque would count as cleared funds and if it got lost in the post you can claim money back from royal mail)

Because money, vouchers or jewellery are not covered for loss with recorded delivery.

Well I have suggested postal order to her but to be honets I am not posting her the toys until I receive them money so completley up to her

they arent covered by royal mail full stop, unless you use Special Delivery.
