Paypal found dispute in my favour but say there are no funds to recover so I'm not getting my money back. Thought I was covered??

surely I'm covered by payapl. The seller is still selling and from what I can gather they just transfer the money super quick from the paypal account to theirs.

Anyone know why I'm not covered - amount was £50

Sounds like fraud on the part of the seller - would contact ebay.

Paypal will only refund you if the seller has the money in their account. They are not allowed to take it from the sellers credit card or bank account. If the seller has no money in their account paypal won't foot the bill!

Paypal should have suspended the sellers account until they have refunded you. This means if they want their account back then they will have to give you your money back, however if they are not bothered then you might not see your refund.

I have just called them up and thankfully this was a mistake by their computers. Paypal have assured me I am covered under their paypal protection and it doesn't matter if the seller doesn't have the money.

They were so good they have already credited the money to my account while I was on the phone. And they said it is their responsibility to get the money off the seller.

Thats great news, they must have changed the rules, as I lost out because of this a few years ago. Glad you have your money back.

You definately are covered regardless as to whether the Seller has the funds or mot.

I was ripped off for a total of £55 & PP refunded the lot even though the seller had legged it with the money (she also had a visit from the police )

As long as it says on the side, covered by PP before you bid/BIN you're covered
