Am I allowed to ask for refund do you think or just have to lump it??

I bid on an item which was local collection only.

I won & paid immediately.

Contacted seller asking when it would be ok to collect & seller responded saying they are currently away & won't be home til Tuesday so can't collect til then.

Now it didn't state this in the listing so was hoping to collect before the weekend so I could use it. I emailed back asking if there was anyway it could be collected sooner but the seller replied saying no as it needs to be wrapped?????? Not really sure why.

Anyway - I'm getting a bit of a funny feeling about this so was just wondering whether I can ask for a refund or if I just have to sit it out & collect when they say I can?

I guess if you are desperate for it you could ask for a refund. if Im ever unable to post for a while I would state this in the ad. However be a wee bit flexible as they may have had a family emergency or something. Being wrapped is a wierd response unless it's a gift item

People list as local collection only precisely so they do not have to package it, which is what I assume 'wrapping' means. Can you ask them to clarify what they mean by wrapping and what it means in the context of their being away until Tues?

I think it is a little early to ask for a refund. In an ideal world, they should have stated their non-availability in the listing. But if I bid for something I desperately needed by a certain time, I would double-check with the seller before bidding that they can oblige. To wait until Tues is not unreasonable IMO.

I agree, i would ask for clarification re the wrapping. Tell them that your dh would need to examine it before taking it away anyway so there is no point in wrapping it.
Ask again about collecting earlier, stating, politely, that there was no mention of such a delay in the listing.

The listing states collection only very clearly & mentions nothing at all about arranging your own courier so I'm confused as to why the seller thought I was talking about arranging a courier - it's almost like she has no idea what the item is! Also she says she's currently away & will be til Tues yet she's replying to emails....could be using her mobile I guess.

Since I said I would be collecting in person I've heard nothing back so we'll wait & see
