I thought I knew a fair bit about all this but I just got an email that concerned me.
Can anyone help?
It's about a recent transaction which was paid by e-cheque as the user is new and has only, I presume, registered a bank account, not a back up source such as card etc.
anyway, she sent the e cheque the other day.
This morning I got an email from paypal, saying I needed to remember to claim the payment, as otherwise it would be returned as unclaimed. It said they were sending me this as I was a high volume seller and made over $10.000 dollars a month [hhmm] which is just quite funny. I probably make a hundred quid in a good month, but never near that.
It had a link to click on as well and looked like a normal paypal email, not suspect immediately.
I didn't click and forwarded it to spoof, for them to check, but then I logged into my paypal account and saw that the payment was still described as 'uncleared', not 'unclaimed' and that I simply have to wait a few days for it to clear. I don't need to claim it.
Any thoughts?
