Paypal have found in my dispute that I'm eligible for a refund and I have to return the item to the seller?

Will I get all my money back (£55 including postage) as it just says to look at the user agreement. I can't find a quick answer to this in the user agreement and am a bit reluctant to just post it back (with recorded delivery of course)

anyone know?

you will get the total amount you paid ie price plus p&P. You won't get a refund for the return postage though. and yes, rec del is a must

I have just had an email from the seller who has said that I am banned from their list (who cares) and if the item is damaged when returned they will put in a counter-claim.

Any idea how I prove that the item is not damaged before I return it?

take photos that are dated and email them to seller

sixlostmonkeys · 21/10/2008 10:52

keep that email they just sent you.
take photos and then take photos of the amount of packaging you use.

actually, just thinking..... they may try and be crafty and not sign for it, knowing you need the tracking info to give to paypal. Can you really disguise it to try and throw them? - without it costing you too much in postage?

Lauriefairycake · 21/10/2008 11:43

I have to log in to paypal and give the tracking number from recorded delivery. There is no way to disguise it as they will have to sign for it. Even if they don't sign for it I just have to provide the tracking number for refund to paypal.

I'm far more concerned that they will damage it and put in a counter claim claiming that I damaged it.

Even if I took photos they could still claim I deliberately damaged it after taking them.

the tracking number needs to indicate that it has been signed for. If they refuse to sign for it your tracking number will show as not delivered and you won't get a refund

then what is the way out of this six? I could send two parcels (one empty) I suppose.....but both with tracking and then they would sign for both of them

and if they refuse to sign for it, it will be returned to me.

The parcel should get returned to you yes.

the prob is I guess that your return address has to be on the parcel and they may be crafty enough to look for it before signing/refusing to sign. Maybe just put your house number and postcode on and they may not recognise it it in time.

I have heard of people sending a letter (or rather an empty envelope) rec del in order to get a signature.

I was just thinking along the lines of - if they were expecting a DVd/cd I'd be tempted to post it back in a wrapped up shoe box. Or if expecting clothing, again place it all in a big box. An Amazon box would be great, it may throw them.

I had a similar issue.
I opened a dispute and was told to return goods for a full refund. Sent recorded delivery and entered tracking number onto Paypal website. However, seller gave me a false address (dodgy from the start)so it was returned to me. I contacted Paypal to inform them and they said they would look into it....received an e-mail a few days later saying that because I hadn't provided tracking details and item was not received then i would receive no refund and case would be closed. I appealed (quite strongly) regarding the fact that I had been given false information and that I had carried out all of Paypal's instructions as requested. Waited another week and then received full refund (but not cost or return postage).

I bought the item in May....it was finally resolved 3 weeks ago so it's not a fast process. Good Luck!
