Simple question about refunds

I won a dress for 50p.
Paid £2 postage.

The dress has arrived stained and with holes in, shabby, discoloured. It was described as "good condition".

Should I just expect the 50p back in refund?
If the seller asks for the dress back, it will cost more to post than 50p so I'll be further out of pocket.

How does this work?

Ebay usually expect you to pay the return postage costs. Email the seller and ask for a full refund. If they refuse, leave feedback that is approriate

You shouldn't have to pay for return postage if the item is blatantly faulty / not as described. You shouldn't be out of pocket due to a sellers' misrepresentation/mistake. Ask for a full refund.

Hmmm...

I asked for a full refund.
Seller wants the dress back before refunding. I'm not paying £1.24 postage to get my 50p back!

Including postage, I am currently £2.50 out of pocket.
If I return dress and get a refund, I'll be £3.24 out of pocket.

Oh it's only 50p I know. Just don't see why seller should get away with selling old tat, but equally don't want to leave neg without giving seller fair chance to ammend.

Seriously - not good enough for charity shop, dress is going straight in rag bag.

Did you pay by paypal? Put in a dispute for goods not as described.

Incidents like this and the silly 'rule' that the buyer pays return postage even when they've been ripped off, are the reason I don't buy clothes off ebay anymore.

I would just put it in the bin and give her neg feedback.

No point sending back to be out of pocket.

Chuck it in the bin and neg her.
