I want to refund a buyer...we charged too much p&p!!

My hubby listed some trainers and after being caught out not charging enough he has charged way too much p&p £6.50 when it just cost £2.49 so I would like to offer a refund how do I do this? What do you think? Thanks!

did they pay via paypal?
Go into transaction and find the issue refund link in the text lower down on page
Then issue part refund. Paypal kindly refunds your partial fees too

dont remeber postage covers packing too

Could you just send a cheque, don't think you have to go through ebay as it's your prerogative and a gesture of good will, nice!

Thanks for your help ladies, I know it does cover the cost of packaging, travel to po etc. But hubby charged £6.50 which to mean seems steep as postage was only £2.49. he now thinks we should wait til theyve received and are happy etc. I don't?

i have sent 1.50 back and expalined after cost of packing and travel to post office this was left from the postage fee they paid as didn't cost as much just the gesture alone i would be happy with have had this done to me and i also to others

WE often do this, kinder to pop a cheque in post or paypal will just deduct half in fee costs when they take it out of their account

I've done this a few times, I usually refund if I've charged more then £0.50p to much - as long as you follow the correct refund process then PP will not deduct anything from the buyer (ie if you refund £3 they will recieve the full £3).

Go into the payment details on PP, scroll to the bottom & click on refund & you can fill out the details & put in whatever amount you want

Add a note to it & also send them an additional email to let them know why they've recieved the refund

emailed the buyers and sent them cheques this morning, so hope they appreciate that. Thanks for your advice all, as I would have just refunded by paypal otherwise!

If they paid via paypal and you go to their transaction and clck refund you can refund part of whet they piad and no fees are charged to them and you get the fees on the bit you refunded back too if that makes sense? I am sure they will appreciate it however they receive it - I would!
