Thinking of selling my first item on Ebay - do I have to offer returns?

I'm a bit nervous about doing my first sale as I really can't be bothered with having to accept returned stuff because buyers are picky or taking the p*ss. I just want to clear some stuff and I am not out to rip anybody off.

Anything I sell will be accurately described with any flaws pointed out. I know that by not offering a returns policy I may put some buyers off but I am prepared to take that chance.

What I was wandering was, do I have to offer some kind of returns policy? What happens if the seller decides they don't like the item? - can I refuse to accept it back?

This is giving me a headache before I've even started

Thanks

I've never offered a returns policy except in the case of a fault or mistake on my part.

ok, I shall do the same thanks.

I'm not in it to make a fortune, I just want people to be as up front and honest as I'm prepared to be.

I keep reading scare stories about nightmare buyers and I don't know if I can be bothered with the hassle.

If this first sale goes ok I'll be happy !

Please read through some of the recent posts from Ebay sellers on here.

They're being ripped off by buyers left, right and centre lately.

I'd try to flog on Gumtree or boot sale or card in a supermarket first, tbh.

Cheaeper, too.

Thanks expat - those threads are what I have been reading and it was making me think twice about selling. Thanks for the tip about Gumtree too.

I might start a thread asking about positive ebay stories. Surely there must be some successful sales out there otherwise ebay wouldn't exist!
