Ggggggrrrrrrr - why do people try their luck??

I've got an item on BIN.

It was an expensive item & is in excellent condition so have listed for £20 less then what I paid for it.

I have not added the 'Or Best Offer' option as I'm not prepared to take any less then the asking price - if it doesn't sell I'll just keep hold of it & try selling at a later date.

So far I've had 4/5 people email me saying 'Will you take X amount for it', 'will you consider this amount for it as it's not new' etc etc

If I was open to offers I would have stated that!!

Drives me barmy!

Have you checked under completed listings to check what price similar items go for? Annoying as it is, there is no point listing something at a price that just will not sell for that. Have lost tons of money on nearly new pushchairs but some hold their value some don't, however much I want them to!

I had a Radley bag that I bought for 75 and have used twice, started listing at 30 as min I would take for it and had abotu 6 emails straight away asking would I take 20 all in for it!! People want something for almost nothing I am afraid!!!

The item I'm selling is a custom made item & is very unique & would cost a lot to have made so that's why I've put it at the price of £36 as if it doesn't sell for that I'll just keep it.

Just bugs me when people email with offers - if I was prepared to take offers I'd select it

i agree, my babystyle lux s3d cost 140 quid new, i started the bidding at a measly £15 with the reserve of 50 then had 4 request asking to pay 40, when they know fully well if putting a reserve on you must put £50 or more, just took it of and sold it for £80 via gumtree, result and no paypal and final value fees

As annoying as it is, try to look at any kind of communication from potential buyers as good.
Without communications we wouldn't know whether our items are even being seen, or if we trust the view counters we could wonder why they are looking but not buying - so any feedback from potentials, could in the long run determine how you trade.
