What do I do about an item I sold that I can't dismantle to post?

I sold a big toy and thought it would come apart easily to go in the box to post but it just won't! Can I email buyer to refund and explain and say I will have to do it for locals only? Is this allowed?

I thought the postage rate was based on weight. Therefore surely the postage will be similar anyway, the parcel will just be bulkier IYSWIM

Yeah but I had listed it with original box, and said I would package properly! It is too big to go in the box and will need a very odd shaped box now, I don't know what to do.....

Hi My husband has sold things on e bay in the past and uses an independent parcel firm who in turn uses one of the big multi-nationals. Try using www.interparcel.co.uk for starters. He says that sometime it works out just as cost effective.
