NEGATIVE RETALIATION FEEDBACK OFF BUYER

I have been a business on ebay for over 12 months selling designer clothes etc that has always recieved positive comms.
2 weeks ago I sent out a pair of jeans and heard absolutely nothing off the sender so assumed everything was ok. Yesterday out of the blue, they e-mailed to say they loved the item but were too long so could they return ? Very politely I explained that they were well out of the 7 day returns policy which was stated on the listing and so unfortunately I was unable to help them with a refund. They got very angry and without any warning left negative feedback saying that the jeans were fake and buyers beware!!! I am really upset as the issue was not with the authenticity of the garment. He had already said his girlfriend loved them and if he genuinely thought they weren't real, he wouldn't wait 2 weeks to get back in touch.
As this is my living, I am really worried now as to the affect this may have on other buyers looking to make a purchase.
Sorry to ramble on, but wondered if anyone has any experience with this type of query ?

speak to ebay - ask them to sort it out with him.

I have left a message with ebay but by the sounds of the help topic, the only time they take off feedback is if it has personal reference, vulgar language etc..
I am starting to feel that sellers are not helped out by ebay one bit. Can't even leave a negative comment to warn other sellers against him as the system no longer allows that either.
I am so annoyed I could scream. When I checked his past feedbacks left, he has done maybe half all negative to people.

Hiya,

I had a neg removed by Ebay as what the seller had left was a lie so it's worth pushing the issue with Ebay to see if they can remove it.

As a buyer one neg would not put me off buying from you - I would reply to the feedback - you can leave a note underneath what the buyer has put.

Hope you get it sorted - hate people like that!

thanks for that. Hopefully ebay may persue this then. I will write a comment in my defensive which will hopefully reassure customers.

make a note under his feedback asking future buyers to get in touch with you if they have any queries regarding his neg ,then explain the situ to them and tell them to look at the feedback he has left for others .

Hope you get it sorted.

hi guys, just to let you no, ebay are not willing to remove the feedback so looks like I'm stuck with this horrible lying comment on my account and can't even leave a warning for other sellers about this guy either as you can no longer leave negative feedback for buyers whatever the circumstances even if its a valid reason!!!

what a nightmare. you can respond to feedback on your profile somehow though.

kiltycoldbum · 03/07/2008 13:53

I dont know if this works but on Goofbay.com if you go into Ebay Shortcuts theres an option for removing negative feedback, you put the item number in.

sarah573 · 03/07/2008 20:37

Do you have a receipt/proof of the authenticity of the jeans? If so I would copy it to ebay, along with a letter, saying that this comment is false and malicious, and you are providing them with proof of this. Tell them you would kindly request they to remove the comment before you seek legal advice against THEM for deformation of your good name.

i hate this new feedback system, we've just got our first neg too. ebay will do nowt.

you can add your own comment under the feedback but you can only give the positive feedback back. it's crazy.

the neg will only be with you for 12 months though if i understand it correctly.

welshlinz · 04/07/2008 09:59

I totally agree southeastastra. It's like there is a witchhunt going on at the moment for sellers. The problem is they have protected the buyers that much with this feedback system, the buyers are taking full advantage knowing they can't be left neg feedback and so abusing the new system.

I have one person who hasn't paid for a purchase they bought nearly a month ago. Gone through the necessary channels for final value fee, etc... but can't leave any neg feedback warning other sellers against these time wasters !! How is that fair ?

This new system is absolute bonkers !

Kilty, just went onto the site but it only directs me to the neg feedback report on ebay which I've already done but thanks for the tip. Sarah, will try what you've said. I can prove the authenticity of the jeans and have told ebay this but they just say unfortunately the member is entitled to his opinion. I think I will write as you have said and take this further.

Thanks for everybodys responses
