Paypal advice please .....

Will I be able to buy something by paypal even if I dont have enough funds actually sitting in there ?

Can it just take it from my bank account ? or how does it work ? will I be charged extra ?

Yes, they just transfer from your account via the card you put on file. They will also do part and part if, for e.g. your item costs £3, but only £2 in paypal account.

Do they charge you extra for this ?
