Can't believe how long this sale is taking - and my first ourchase on ebay too!! I won a highchair and sent the guy a cheque as i didn't have paypal at the time. Nearly two weeks later he sends me an email saying the cheque was damaged in the post and can I send another - offered to send a photo of the cheque. I emailed him back saying if he returns the cheque I will send payment again. The thing is I need a highchair now - am going on hols tomorrow and won't have access to the internet - what should I do? He just does not seem to answer his email - seems to be a business

Stop the cheque and go buy a high chair elsewhere is what I would do.

Stop the cheque and buy a highchair from your local secind hand baby equipment shop.

That's what I'd do.

Yes I am beginning to think that might be the best thing - it will cost me £7 though and would I get negative feedback? Not too bothered but I wanted to sell some stuff on their soon

Sellers can't leave buyers neg feedback any more.
I would email him, say that due to time pressure you have had to buy a high chair elsewhere and that you would like to mutually withdraw from the transaction.

Then put a wanted ad on mumnset classifieds for a highchair.

Why will it cost you£7? If he hasn't cashed your cheque it will only have cost you a stamp won't it? Oh and stop the cheque as he may decide to sellotape it up if you want to withdraw from the purchase.

Cancel the cheque before you tell him you are pulling out.

Oh thats good Flibbertyjibbet - £7 is what the bank quote to stop a cheque

Hey hun,

Tell the bank a fib & tell them it's been lost in the post - should be free then ;)
