Need some advice please.

Sold 2 tops on Ebay. Had an email from buyer not happy with condition of mainly one top. She said it was stained and dirty and couldn't possibly be worn!
So i agree to her returning them to me to look at because i am careful about things i sell.
Anyway, recieved tops back. I can see out in the sun one does have what looks like a small grease patch but is really hard to see. Otherwise is fine.

She is asking for full refund including cost for returning them to me.

So what should i do? She paid £0.99 for them and £2 postage.

I probably would refund, tbh. I am completely anal about checking for defects before listing, so would be mortified at having missed something like that. Having said that, i try to avoid selling things for 99p a throw because it's such a pain for so little reward.

I've been sent things with marks that hadn't been mentioned, and I do think it's out of order.

If she paid on paypal and raises a dispute - they will find in her favour (they always do)and refund her anyway - she would then get the original cost and postage only.

this thread has a bit of dicussion about postage refunds - some of which is relevant to your situation.

tbh I have been in this position myself before. Sold a grobag to someone described it as well used and 7 years old (it was the clanger one that was only out for a while). Buyer sent long email about how they had never been so diappointed in their life etc etc so I gave them a full refund with both sets of postage. Sold it the following week for more than previously using exact same listing and got feedback 'item in far better conditon than described A++++ '.

I wouldn't worry too much but just give the refund and forget them - put it down to experience.

Well i have emailed her and told her i still disagree with her saying the top is so dirty/stained that it is un wearable but that i will refund. Problem i have is that i have about 50p less in paypal than she wants. Can't do cheque and am not willing to pay out even more for a PO. I just can't afford to. Am out of pocket already.

Why do i bother with Ebay! More trouble than it is worth sometimes.
