Tumbleweed rolling through Ebay

I've had a break from selling unwanted items since the end of last year. Have got back to listings this week and finding it SO slow going! I think the new rules around postage, not to mention Buyer Protection are putting off both buyers and sellers.

I would SO much rather pay a 10% selling fee than this stupid new system. On Vinted it's fine as the Buyer Protection is listed separately underneath, but with Ebay adding it on to the seller's price ticket- it makes smaller items unsaleable and larger items have bizarre price tags. Hate it! Anyone else finding it so dead?

Agree it’s gone really crap. I tend to only sell as But It Now and it’s all second hand stuff, only auction when I have no idea what it will sell for, something unusual or high demand. I just drop the price or send offers until it sells. I’m still shifting stuff.

Doing it this way I also do free postage so I can send using Yodel, most convenient for me. Hate the simple delivery option.

I used to sell loads on eBay but it’s very difficult now. I use Vinted a lot. There are other sites like eBay but they are quieter but some are busy for very specific items.
I think there’s ebuyer, ebuygumm,

I see the simple shipping stars today.
I wonder what happens if I sold something postage listed was 2nd class and the buyer pays then asks for a faster delivery service usually I can just amend postage label when I purchase it. I expect I will have to now add all postage options that are available.

Just had a look at selling something. I could get around the simple postage and get custom postage and add and choose delivery option and get rid of global shipping program which it adds on automatically which I have never used.
I can only add one postage price though and not give faster options. If anyone can see how I can add 3 different options like 2nd 1st and next day.

I also agree - it's so bizarre when a business doesn't listen to its users!

eBay has become awful now. Also used to sell my old things regularly, but the introduction of buyer fees supposedly for seller protection (something buyers already had) was the final straw.

It is becoming a place for Temu tatt and business sellers, and the private sellers that helped build eBay seemingly aren’t wanted anymore.

Try Facebook marketplace or vinted.

Gosh I haven’t used eBay for years. I loved it when it was selling pre loved items, but now it’s just drop shippers. Too many businesses on ebay, I use Vinted now instead which is much much easier for both buyer and seller

I used to make a good amount on selling clothing of mine and the children’s and I prefer the auction method over vinted because it tends to go quicker (have some on vinted now that is selling but sloooooow). Haven’t used eBay for a few months but DD is listing some collections that used to go really well on eBay. Very little interest now, the buyers protection added on is definitely not helping, and making weird amounts. Not the simple, and almost pleasant, experience that it used to be. I’ve got a lot of clothing that I was going to list this spring/summer but genuinely thinking my local (absolutely rammed) boot sale might be better.

I used to sell loads on eBay but not now. that postage so called simple system is ridiculous. I sell a lot of vintage postcards which I send in an envelope board one for just over a £1. even taking in account my envelope etc thats fine but on that new simple system it comes out as £2.94 who on earth would pay that for a card that has probably cost less than a pound in the first place? i tend to click back to advanced postage and as long as they do that it will be ok but i do not think there are that many buyers on there now. I think that many people are at the moment going for the instant appeal of Vinted especially now they have more categories including electronics

@PrimalScreaming If you find a better option please report back!

I have a load of similar items - probably most would fit into the £5-£50 bracket and I would like to sell them for one of DM’s favourite charities. Clothes were easy, they just go to the charity shop but the vintage items don’t really fit into a regular charity shop. I did something similar about ten years ago and raised a good amount of money but ebay was a lot easier then. I’ve just looked at the selling side for the first time in years and it seems a bit mad.

I’ve had Facebook Marketplace suggested but that seems to be very variable by area.
