So annoyed with this buyer - HELP!

I put an item on ebay and listed it a collection only and payment to be cash on collection

The winning bidder has now sent me a message saying that she wants to pay in advance and arrange a courier. I don't want to do this as I don't want to pay paypal fees for £6.50, I don't want to fart about with personal cheques and I don't want to sit around waiting for a courier..

If I tell her to bog off and offer it to next highest bidder can she still leave negative feedback?????

i think a courier isn't that big a deal (if she collected it in person, you'd have to wait around just the same), but paypal fees are high. could you explain to her that it'd cost you £6.50 for paypal, and ask her if she'd be ok to pay that, and if she is, just add that as a p&p cost to the invoice.

if she pays by paypal then you need to have proof of delivery
otherwise she can claim non-receipt and get the money back
not sure how you would have proof if she books the courier?

Don't know, but will watch this with interest.

I used to only accept payment by cheque or PO, as I didn't want to deal with paypal, but now have been forced to accept paypal by new ebay regs. But I do occasionally do pickup only items, and gather it's a bad idea to accept paypal for collection items.

I would put cash only collection only, but not sure if this is enforceable under ebay regs.

Buyers should stick to what you have put in the auction as that is part of the contract. It's really annoying when they don't.

I think she would be able to leave you a negative if you told her you were selling it to the next bidder. I don't know how you would get on asking eBay to remove - it isn't high on their priority list, even though you are in the right.

Don't know what your item is, but perhaps you could tell her you can't package it appropriately (don't have boxes etc) so it can't go by courier and is pickup only.

If she collected in person we could arrange a specific time slot (which would be one evening between 5-7pm) a courier I have to wait in all morning or all afternoon.

The item is a moses basket and stand and I suspect very much that she saw it was going to go for a low price so decided to bid because it would be worth it to pay a courier.

If you stated in your listing that it was Cash on collection ONLY - and didn't offer any alternatives then you are well within your rights to refuse anything else. You can do a mutual withdraw from sale (they need to fill their part in too) and you will get your fees back.
Sorry, not sure if they can leave feedback - but is it worth all the fees, the wrapping, the staying just to avoid a a red dot on the screen?

Hmmmmm you would have to go to the effort (and stump up the cost) of packaging it as well. I would be tempted to refuse and point out to her that the sale is on the basis of cash on collection only.
I think she may be able to leave negative feedback, but then so could you on the grounds that she didn't fulfill her part of the deal. (or have the feedbacks changed yet? I'm not sure)

But SLM, ebay now require you to offer paypal, so don't know if you could legitimately refuse to accept that as payment?

I'm going to tell her to bog off - didn't even think about the fact that I would have to package it aswell and the proof of postage is a concern.

I'll send her a polite message and hope that she agrees to withdraw gracefully

If I was to sell an item needing collection there is no way I would allow paypal. Although it would have to state paypal accepted on the listing I would make it clear on the listing that as this is collection only, paypal will NOT be accepted - and the buyer, ebay or anyone else for that matter would not make me hand over my item and then risk losing the money. Strike me, neg me, suspend me, cover me and egg and flour and bake me for 40 minutes, but you ain't 'avin' my tat and my cash...

The buyer has agreed to withdraw from the sale and was suitably apologetic! So I've offered up for second chance offer.
