How long does a paypal payment usually take to clear?

I have just bought a bunch of stuff off ebay. I don't need any of it urgently, but have noticed that the expected clearance date for all of the paypal payments is about 10 days from the payment date. Does it usually take this long? Am worried about annoying sellers!

it looks like you've paid by echeque which is part of paypal- for some reason. Normally paypal clears straight away

Oh pants. Do you have any idea how I've managed to do such a thing? Assume it's too late to do anything about the payments I've made (unless someone has a solution?), but how can I change it for the future?

Thanks!

you need to check your settings in payal and make sure you have money in whatever you have set as the place to draw money from

I have just had the same problem. It was fine whilst my setting was to take the money off my debit card, but when I changed it to take the money from the current account it does take longer. I think it allows up to 5 days to get from your account to paypal and another 5 from paypal to the seller's bank account.
the only way the payment will clear straight away is if you already have the total money for the sale sitting in your paypal account i.e. from a sale.
Hope this helps

lisa- the last bit isn't right. i never have money in my paypal account- it takes it from my bank and does it instantly

I have money in the account - paypal linked to current account - but it still seems to think I want to pay by e-cheque, and I can't see anywhere to change this?

Maybe if I load money into my paypal acocunt from my current account before paying for something that would sitestep the problem?

I had this recently - they made me verify my debit card -which I had done the year before, so I am still none the wiser why it happened in the first place but it is resolved now. The suppoort people were quite good.
