Ebay Buyers Scamming Sellers

Why do some people think its acceptable to buy something on Ebay then claim it didnt turn up or the item was different to the one advertised?.

I dont sell only buy but i have noticed from the forum a lot of sellers are being duped.

One seller sold a vintage Dior bag and the buyer said they received a Radley bag instead. How do these people sleep at night?.

I think for certain categories it’s very common. They probably sell them on again

I have stopped selling on it for this and many other reasons. Its just not worth the hassle time and money.

I only ever post tracked and presumably if they claim wrong item to just tell them to return for a refund? (Although not had that one happen so don't know if there is a way around it for them)

I only sell fairly low value crafty items, possibly the type of thing that doesn't appeal to scammers and in 12 years have never had a problem.

Designer items tend to attract scammers.

Incidentally, the only time I was scammed was when buyer did a reverse charge for a Dior perfume.

Luckily, I had seller's protection so got my money back although the buyer still got away with it!

Another buyer tried to imply that the brand new Uggs I was selling wasn't authentic, having blocked someone from the same area from buying due to their low feedback. I suspected it was a partner or friend as I had an almost identical offer soon after rejecting and blocking the first.

Anyway, heard nothing further from them once I sent a photo of the original receipt.
