Winning Bidder on item I was selling, no longer registered user of Ebay

Has anyone ever come across this before, the bidder was based in the states, although I had stated post to uk - luckily, I had checked the user id, prior to sending the invoice and notice they were no longer registered with ebay.
I contacted, ebay told them that the person was no longer register and did a second chance offer to the other bidder.

Yes that is the correct procedure afaik.

for the future - if you only want UK bids you should change your preferences to disallow bids from countries you don't post to (saves a lot of trouble in the long run)
