Buyer wants refund after Vinted order has completed

Buyer says there's a mark on a tshirt I sold on Vinted - I'm pretty sure there wasn't and it's not on any of the photos I took of the item.

They haven't sent a photo and also the order has completed. What should I do?

Ignore them.

popsick · 04/09/2024 18:28

I presume they'll just leave poor feedback?

Nothing. It's too late as its completed. If there was an issue they should have raised it in the 48h grace period following receipt.

@popsick

You do not have to do anything.

They had 48hours to raise an issue after receiving the item, if they didn't it is their loss.

Have you looked at your photos to see if there is a mark - not that you have to but just to satisfy yourself.

If they leave negative feedback, don't worry just respond underneath with facts, keep emotion out of it.

You can also leave negative for them, but I probably would not bother as buyers do not get automatic feedback like sellers do.

Bad feedback is only an issue if you get loads.

Thank you - @stopringingme no marks that I can see on my photos.

I know this thread is a couple of months old but the same has happened to me this week.
I've only got 5* feedback so far but this lady is saying the top I sold her has a hole in the front.
In my photos I can't see it!
It's right in the front so I'm sure I would have noticed it, as I hung the top up on a hanger to take photos!

She's already completed the sale and I have the money in my account.

Can she still insist on a refund?

popsick · 10/11/2024 21:11

No she can't but she can leave you nasty feedback as I discovered! Apparently the item also smelt of wet dog and vomit (it definitely didn't 😂)

I suppose if you wanted to you could offer a private refund via PayPal but you wouldn't get the item back - might prevent 1* feedback though

I was looking at that but as you say she may not send the item back! Plus Vinted don't allow it I've just found out.
They say once you've pressed everything is ok, then that's it!

I swear blind though that there was no hole!

I've had a break from vinted for this type of reason! Similar thing happened twice... both for quite expensive items!
Bit different as buyers did it within the 48hour period - first time was literally my first ever sale so o know I was totally careful! She claimed there was a hold thread sticking out the front of dress!! I was positive this was not true but then she said she had loads of 5 star reviews blah blah and got really nasty! So I gave her a refund - when she returned it, she had clearly pulled a gold thread out herself!!

It's hard to prove unless you take tons of close ups of every inch of the item!

The other time, I did that but she still claimed there was a 'grease mark' on the brand new with tags item?!? There wasn't but it was a shiny, maroon fabric so it was up for dispute! I relented and gave her a refund, I'm sure she made the mark herself as it was an expensive item.

I think both these people tried one and either didn't fit or didn't look on so they fabricated it all.

I am so careful, but it's just a way for people to try on and send back - especially higher value items.

It's really annoying and time wasting etc but a loophole I guess!! 🙈
