Sellers - what are your Detailed Seller Ratings?

...and are you happy with them?

Mine currently stand at:

Item as described - 4.9
Communication - 4.8
Dispatch time - 4.8
Postage and packaging charges - 4.6

I'd like to raise my P&P rating, but I think whilst I have lots of buyers who are E-bay newbies, I'm going to struggle, as they only rate the P&P on the value of the stamps.

Item as described 4.9
Communication 4.7
Dispatch time 4.6
Postage and packaging charges 4.7

Not sure why communication is 4.7.
Dispatch, yes i can be a bit slow to post.
Bit disappointed with P&P because i only charge real postage cost rounded up to allow for packaging.

Mine are the same as yours laura.
My p&p star dropped when I started offering FREE post.

laura032004 · 17/04/2008 20:39

I think the problem is that if people aren't 100% happy with the P&P charge, they are bound to give 4 or lower. Then it's really hard to work back up towards 5. Strange about the free post though

For communication I send an email on the day that I have posted the item. Just a standard email, but I get a lot of replies to it, so it must do the trick. For high value things, I always email before posting to confirm the address is correct. For bulky items I often offer a choice of posting day, or place, so that they could be in to receive it, or have it sent to work for example.

I try and post every other day, which I think is reasonable. I tend to do lots of auctions ending on a Sat and a Sun, so then I post most of it on a Monday, and the rest on a Wednesday.

I charge postage plus up to £1. I use proper mailing bags, and bubble wrap anything that isn't clothing. I do take a lot of care over my packaging, and never have any complaints, just not the 5 star rating.

re communication - you could send for eg 2 comms - some would mark you down because it's not enough and some could mark you down because they felt you were pestering them with too much comms.

re postage. If an item costs a few quid to post, the buyer doesn't care that the actual stamp cost that much, they just think blummin eck that cost me a fiver I'm not happy so I'll mark it down.

buyers get confused with dispatch time and the time it takes the royal mail to deliver it - so they mark you down.

item as described? they will mark you down because they didn't read it properly.

ebay haven't done a good job with the stars. If all buyers think 'well it was good' they would prob give a 4. fair enough.... until ebay then start punishing sellers with less than 4.3.

Shouldn't most transactions be a 3? All went well, no problems but I didn't jump for joy at the gold leaf packaging and the fact in was delivered 3 hours before I bought it?
Give a 5 to the exceptionally fantastically brilliant and a 1 to scummy scum wrapped in scum? Therefor 3 should be the norm, the acceptable, the sign of a good seller - but it's not is it?

sigh

Somebody gave me a negative for a fault with the item clearly described in the auction. I was sooooo She got the 1st ever negative that I've given. I'd have refunded the whole 6p she paid had she even contacted me!

My P+P rating was brought down from full marks by someone who paid £5 p and p for an item which cost exactly £5 postage! GRR!

charliecat · 17/04/2008 21:29

mine are

Item as described - 4.9
Communication - 4.7
Dispatch time - 4.7
Postage and packaging charges - 4.7

id never looked at them before...
i have 879 feedback 100% positive

katwith3kittens · 17/04/2008 21:34

I agree with SLM.

TBH, I only ever glance at the stars to make sure they are 3 and above. Being a 4.7 would be fine in my eyes.

Statistics can always be manipulated to reflect whatever you want them to.... and somehow its always in Ebays advantage

Youcannotbeserious · 17/04/2008 21:41

I agree with SLM too...

Mine are
4.8
4.8
4.8
4.4

Which really p*sses me off, actually, because several times i've posted things and the acutal postage has been HIGHER than I've charged!!! I very rarely make anything out of P&P charges!!!

I have 750 feedbacks and all positive......

ninedragons · 18/04/2008 02:59

I agree completely with SLM about people marking you down because they didn't read the description properly. That's my only less than perfect star rating and I'm just so absurdly scrupulous about my descriptions that they really can't have had a legitimate point.
