Any advice on how I deal with this?

I've had my first really shit ebay experience: bought a 'Monsoon' dress about 10 days ago, it arrived today and is damaged, fake and very badly made
Also, the seller charged £8.95 to post to Eire, and it cost her £2.07 in postage - but that's another matter. Obviously I need to ask for a full refund, I hate dealing with stuff like this (I like everything to be lovely and fluffly and nice ) and don't really know how to broach it with the seller I'm thinking I should just mention the damage, if I mention the fakery they'll probably just get defensive?
And what to do re. feedback? It would be dishonest to leave positive, surely I should warn other prospective buyers.. but if I leave neg she's goign to leave me neg in retaliation...

Take photos of the damage and e-mail them her with an e-mail saying how disapointed you are. Stick to the facts and ask for a refund, stating the item is not fit for purpose and not as described. Is she 100% positive? If so, she won't want an unhappy customer.

email explaining that the item is not as described and has been damaged. tell them you require a full refund.
if they give a refund you can then leave neutral feedback.
they may well do the same to you but at least you wont be marked negativly and anyone viewing your FB score will see that it is merely tit for tat.

Wait til she has refunded and then leave positive saying "seller refunded with good comunications as item was unfortunately fake"

Then you're warning everyone but also she will probably give you a positive. She can't really argue with the truth and if she gives you a negative you can complain surely.

Agree with the others, email with pics and politely ask for a refund, say its not as desbribed and is damaged.
Out of interest, how do you know its fake?

I would email the seller and tell them that the dress has arrived but it is in poor condition and you are not happy.
Stick to the exact facts and don't get personal/

Thanks for delivery of the dress, on closer inspection I can see that it has a fault/damage on the seam (whatever)(etc).
I am disapointed as I was looking forward to recieving the dress (etc).

I would send something like this to test the water and then if response is bad would open a dispute as not as described. The seller may respond with a refund.
I would leave feedback once all avenues have been tried!
As for postage rates - I would not pay that much for a top! If you aren't sure about postage rates for clothes, weigh something similar at home on the kitchen scales and look postage rates up on www.royalmail.com to see how much they should be charging!

Pannacotta - the material is poor quality, the stitching is bad, the Monsoon label is wobbly looking - as though it has been recycled, the inside care label is really unmonsoonish, the zip is crap etcetera...I'm sure!

I know I was a fecking fool with the postage; I assumed it would be recorded or couriered or something

Def dont leave any feedback until this is resolved as this is your bargaining tool.
If the seller is v uncooperative I agree with opening a paypal dispute, sounds as if you've been badly ripped off (on postage alone, even without the dress being fake and damaged).
What is the seller's feedback like, did you have any warning? Name and shame if you like!

The feedback score is over 2000, I looked at the first few pages and it was all good... maybe I was just unlucky?
The Seller is the dress princess, with underscores between each word (don't want her/them to find this before refunding me )

Hmmmm they have LOTS of Monsoon & Coast dresses and I notice that she's had 6 negatives and 9 neutrals.

Try this website to check feedback of sellers www.toolhaus.org you can type in copy and paste seller's user id and find out exactly how many negs have been left and how many they leave.
Always be very wary of power sellers! Also check for withdrawn feedback - this doesn't show up on their score of negs. They could have 100's of negs which have been withdrawn.

No problem, willing to help anytime! I sell on ebay and buy so know my stuff!

Oh yes, just checked her feedback, some people complaining about postage rates and damaged items. She states in previous feedback that refunds will be offered for damaged items

No probs, just don't like ebay sellers to treat people badly. Just had a neg left for me from a seller who took 10 days to post something and it smelt of ciggies. Left a neutral for them and got a neg!
Don't ever be bullied into not putting the feedback that is true to that transaction. Just remember to always stick to facts in feedback, it looks better.

Hi there

I am sorry your not happy although the quality of 'monsoonn' stitching is not something that i can control. And i dont want to play it down but the loss of an eye or a hook does not really effect the look or how you will wear the dress.
May i make i suggestion that i refund a couple of pounds as a gesture of goodwill as i dont like to see customers unsatisfied.

How does that sound

And yes, a missing hook isn't a huge deal, but the material is a mess where the hook should be, and who buys something new expecting to repair it before even wearing it?

I would insist on a full refund as its not as described on the listing. You can also make a claim via paypal if thats how you paid?

Surely a hook and eye missing on a dress effects how you wear it! What a ridiculous statement! I would not accept the couple of pounds 'good will', she is trying to palm you off.
I would re resd the listing and then send another email to her (using quotes from her listing) that it does not say anywhere in the listing that 'a hook and eye is missing, but this does not effect the wearing of the dress', if it did then the listing would have been accurate!!

If no luck again then open a dispute if you paid via paypal.
