What to do when something you post out goes missing??

I have proof of postage, the buyer has not recieved the item yet I posted it in the 1st of april.......must add this ebayer has 0 feedback not that that means I should doubt them everyone has to start somewhere. not quite sure what to do, i have never had an item go missing in the post before

GO TO THE POST OFFICE AND TELL THEM SOMETHING (sorry) has gone missing in the post.
if i remember rightly they ask you to wait for so long to see if it turns up, then you have to fill in a clims form. not sure entirely but i think it does rest on your shoulders to chase it up.

this has happened to me twice, luckily only for small inexpensive items and i have just refunded the money myself as i cant be bothered to do all the chasing up.
but no feedback is different, i would look into claiming for it if it was for alot of money.

iirc you have to wait 14 days before you can report something youi ave posted as 'missing' will be on the royalmail website i think.

Tell your buyer you will be claiming from the RM and that they will be receiving a form from RM for them to confirm and sign that the item wasn't delivered. Sometimes this prompts the item to surprisingly arrive

In the meantime claim from RM - you can get a form from the Po, have to wait 15 days etc etc

You should refund the buyer before claiming the money yourself but in this case I'd try the little trick above first. Also ask the buyer to ask their neighbours and to contact their local sorting office to see if it is there - sometimes postie doesn't leave a card

ooh thankyou all for your responses 6LM what am i entitled to reclain from the RM...would it be the postage plus the value of the item??

To be honest stoppingattwo I'm not exactly sure how it works as I've never had to claim (they always 'turn up' once I send the above messages.

I've heard that RM have a special form/section for ebay claims, but I've never looked into it. I'd ask at your PO for advice. I think you have to print out a copy of the auction or the invoice or something...

hopefully someone else will be able guide you more.

i think you can claim up to £32 unless you have paid for the extra insurance. when i post my items the post lady always asks if it is worth more than £32.
thats £32 for the item, not sure if it covers postage as well
