What to do with wrongly delivered parcel?

An Evri parcel was delivered to me, but it wasn't my order amd the actual recipient's address label was underneath mine when I peeled the address label off.

I've tried to contact SHEIN to explain to them that theor customer is missing a parcel amd that I want to return it, but it was just a Bot responding.

I am going to try the post office today, but having tracked their code, it'd showing as "Delivered" and photo shows a parcel that's my actual parcel. Will that mean they won't be able to accept it because the bar ode has been zapped already?

Any advice welcome, thanks.

Deliver it to the correct address yourself? Or is it not local?

If not local, just bin it. Shein will sort it out with the customer or customer will write it off as it’s probably some shit that only cost £2.99 anyway.

I would deliver it myself if they were local, but the address is 150 miles away from me.

I will just give it to the charity shop if post office can't deliver.

If it’s not heavy and you are feeling charitable you could always forward it yourself by Evri or Royal Mail.

Sorry, what makes you think Post Office will help for free? That’s a non-starter, like buying something in Tesco and trying to return to Sainsbury’s. Don’t waste your time going to the PO unless you are willing to pay the onward postage yourself.
Evri might be a better bet as it was them who delivered originally, but they will likely just say they delivered to the address on the label, which is fair enough.

I don't think they will, but their address label is there, so I may as well ask.

It'll probably only cost my £2.99 anyway to post, as I don't want to keep nor do I want to just bin it.

I wouldn’t bin it, you don’t know what it is and how valuable it is, Evri delivered to you, probably did a photo and you accepted it, so you are responsible for it so I would try to contact Evri. Of course it might be nothing but you can t be sure

TimeandMotion · 04/07/2024 10:47

Are you saying that the original label under the Evri one was a Royal Mail one with a Royal Mail bar code?

What’s your legal basis for saying that the OP is responsible for the package?

It was an Evri one.

I wasn't home when the parcel came, it just showed GPS location when delivered.

The label had my details on which is why it came to my address. However, after inspecting closely, there was another label underneath, so peeled mine off and it's another Evri label with their address.

I've contacted Evri, and received an email from them to let me know its being looked at but that's it.

The post office is actually part of a convenient shop that also offers Evri parcel drop.

@TimeandMotion I was under impression that when they’ve delivered to you, and it is clear from e,g the photo, you might be hold responsible. I know it’s not a legal basis at all but it’s the advice on MN thread usually.
It’s up to OP of course.

TimeandMotion · 04/07/2024 11:03

Yes, as I said, Royal Mail have nothing to do with this unless you pay your them your own money to send it to the true recipient.

Out of interest, are you expecting your own Evri parcel, which has not appeared? Why else would Evri have your address? Perhaps the Shein customer has it!

It was left on her doorstep without her consent. It’s not the same as taking in a parcel that you know to be for someone else and then stealing it.

If she hadn’t peeled off the label she wouldn’t even know it was intended for someone else. Who is to say it wasn’t a surprise present? It’s hers now and she can bin it if she likes.

I'm a bit puzzled that Evri delivered a parcel to a house 150 MILES away from where it should have been delivered to. 😬 A few doors, or streets away yes. But 150 miles?!

@xsquared I would just keep it in your house/shed/garage. If someone wants it back, they can come and get it from you. Smile It's not your problem that they delivered it to the wrong house.

Is it a high priced item?

Yes, there was a mix up between my parcel and someone else's. I've contacted my retailer so they're sorting a replacement for me.

The SHEIN customer does indeed have it because when I tracked her number, she had a photo of what would have been the right size parcel for me, as hers came in a bag and mine was in a small box.

You can send it to Shein registered UK address?
: SUITE 1,7TH FLOOR 50 BROADWAY LONDON UNITED KINGDOM SWIH 0DB,
But I guess you'd have to pay postage for that too, so may as well post it to the recipient? The contents will be worth less than that probably though.

No, I don't think it's particularly high value. It's clothing from SHEIN.

I would just keep it then, and pop it in your garage/shed/spare room etc. It's very likely that the buyer will contact the seller and say they didn't receive it. Then they seller (Shein) will just send another. As I said, it was sent to you and you didn't ask for it. Not your problem. Smile
