Is this a scam?

Just sold a very heavy and large item on ebay (it's been on the site for a long time), listed as collection only.

Buyer paid immediately by Paypal but didn't contact me about collection.

So I contacted her and got a message back saying elderly mother has been suddenly taken ill ... she'll be in contact to arrange a courier soon. Haven't heard any more.

I know enough not to agree to pay for the courier and get her to repay me (she hasn't requested that, at least not yet). Is there another scam I should watch out for? Item is damaged but that's clearly stated in the description & in photos. And it's a relatively low sale price (£50) and a difficult item to sell on so I don't think there'd be a benefit to her to scam me for just £50.

Anything I've missed?

She's paid you, and you're worried you're being scammed? Think you're overthinking this.

Nah its not a scam...its only a scam if she tries to claim money bk after collection.

Yes it could be. If she arrangers the courier and then claims not to receive the item PayPal will refund her. If you're happy to send the item you need to arrange delivery with proof of posting.

You also shouldn’t do PayPal as an option for collection. The person could collect and then open a case saying not received. You have no tracking number to upload.
cash only for collection

Thanks. The item was collected by a courier, no issues.
Nowadays eBay gives the buyer a QR code for the seller to scan to confirm it's been collected, which the buyer passed on to the courier.
