Seller wants me to Close return?

I ordered some kitchen storage from eBay. It arrived missing a wheel, scratched and not able to be fit together.

Seller has proposed various solutions. Now saying they will send another if I close the return first.

This feels dodgy. Won't I lose the eBay protection if I do this?

You don't have to do anything the seller insists you do. When you sell on eBay you have to abide by retail law - if you get faulty goods, or at least they don't match the description, you are entitled to a full refund, and if the seller won't give it to you, eBay will take it from them. It's in the T&Cs.

Of course it's open to exploitation, but it's the risk you take when you sell on line. Every business who sells online knows this. Just because you are buying from an individual instead of a business, they are still liable. Don't fall for any sob stories either. You are entitled to a refund!

On a faulty item do I have to pay to return the item if they want it back?

This is a business not a private seller.

No you don’t have to pay to return a faulty item. Ask the seller to send you a pre paid return label. If they don’t then contact eBay.

oh and DO NOT close the return. You will not be refunded otherwise and there will be nothing you can do.

I messaged the seller that I would not be closing the return until I had a refund.

They initiated a refund. Hoping the money comes back to my account soon.
