eBay have removed all selling fees for pre-owned clothes

Opened eBay app and saw that as of today, there are no selling fees on eBay for pre-owned clothes. They're obviously trying to claw back some of the market lost to Vinted over past few years.

No fees for buyers on eBay either so this is appealing to both sellers and buyers.

I've listed a few items today and will see how quickly they sell, compared to Vinted.

I saw this too, do you think it's because of the new tax rules people aren't selling as much?

Arraignment · 09/04/2024 10:01

Yes I'm sure that's a factor.

I also think the second hand clothes market has moved over to Vinted and maybe they are trying to get some of it back.

I hadn't sold anything on eBay for two years before yesterday. I was pleasantly surprised by how easy the listing process is now.

Sold an item straight away, and buying postage was easier than it used to be too.

It's great having no fees deducted from my sale! Never had that on eBay before!

Will see how it goes in comparison to Vinted.

Interested to hear how it goes OP.

Thinking about second hand online clothes shopping, vinted or possibly depop would come to mind before ebay. I've always (obviously wrongly) associated ebay with 'stuff' rather than clothing

Ooh, interesting!

I saw this today and also thought it's because of business lost to Vinted. It's good news.

I noticed shoes won't qualify for free selling though.

Typically I've just finished selling loads of clothes on ebay after a clear out! The last item was paid for the day before the new rule came in. Grrrrr!

Good!

SevenSeasOfRhye · 13/04/2024 10:19

Good news for sellers but is this a slippery slope for eBay?

Wowzel · 13/04/2024 10:19

They are charging big fees on other items now - 15 pounds on a 110 pound bicycle i sold.

I was pleased with the announcement as I sell on Ebay quite a bit. Tried vinted for the 1st time last month and haven't sold anything (decent brand childrens clothing).

So all my men's clothing sold within a week on eBay and it was great not paying any fees!

Women's clothing hasn't sold though, although I'm. not selling particularly desirable items. Will go back to Vinted and see if it's any better there, although stuff can sit on Vinted for ages I find.

Bonus on eBay is that because (I guess) I'm back as a seller after a long break, I've been sent an 80% off fees promotion for this weekend. So going to list some "stuff" rather than clothes and offer free postage. Moving house soon so keen to get rid!
