DS2 had good report from school so I said he could have a treat- he wanted Madagasgar on DVD- so I bid on ebay and win.........

.......The problem is, I have just discovered its not Madagascar the childrens animation DVD, Its a film called Madagascar Skin and its a story about a gay couple who cant fit into the gay scene. (How on earth I managed to get it mixed up is beyond me)

What, if anything can I do???

Sorry, ... I'm laughing to much to give a sensible answer!

TrinityfeelslikeahopelessRhino · 15/03/2008 09:10

email the seller asap and explain the problem, they may help you
other than that I have no idea what you can do

and sorry but ....

fryalot · 15/03/2008 09:11

pmsl!!!

ok, here's what you do: You write an email to the seller and explain what you have done. Tell them that of course you will honour the agreement and still buy it if they want you to, however you made a mistake and you really don't want it, so you thought that you would give them the opportunity to re-list it and possibly get more for it.

They may be happy to do this. Obviously, if the aren't, you are going to have to buy it.

What you do with it when you get it.... well, that's entirely up to you

I know- im sat here laughing at myself. God knows what DP will make of it.

I have just emailed the seller, apoligising for my extreme foolishness.

It looks like a DVD shop so I asked if he wouldnt mind forwarding the actual childrens film instead, I dont mind paying the extra. I said that DS2 may not be impressed with the film I ordered.

What an idiot!!

If you do have to buy it do you nkow anyone who would enjoy it as a gift? [snort]

crokky · 15/03/2008 09:14

I would pay for the DVD and once you receive it, list it for sale again on eBay.

Depends what sort of seller you have bought from - if it was me and I had taken the trouble to list it and wait for the auction to finish etc and had the item packed up and ready to post, I would feel a bit annoyed about you emailing saying you didn't want it because I would have to mess around doing it all again because of your mistake. On the other hand, someone who sells loads of stuff might not mind, you can always ask if you can back out but say that if it is a problem for the seller that you will pay for it.

BTW, winning an item is a legally binding contract - you can only back out with the agreement of the seller.

Please let us know what the seller says. PMSL

tiredemma · 15/03/2008 09:19

Of course ill pay for it Crokky- What i'll do with it once I receive it, God only knows- but I wouldnt want to give anyone the runaround. If it was an independent seller just selling a one off DVD from home, I wouldnt ask if they would forward to real madagasgar - I only asked because it appears to be a shop type business selling lots of kids dvd's

sorry I x posted with you, I didn't know it was a shop - took me a long time to press post! It's fine to ask a DVD shop to send a different DVD, they shouldn't mind.

tiredemma · 15/03/2008 20:25

what a gent- he refunded me.

will pay attention in future!!
