£685,000 item with economy delivery

Somebody is currently trying to sell a 50pence for £685,000 on Ebay but are only offering Economy delivery. It might be my imagination but there are an increasing amount of buyers trying to flog items for thousands more than they are worth. This coin for example does not even sell for £2. I checked the various completed items of that description.

I did once buy some pirated software on Ebay (a well-known graphics program, for those who will ask). The listing was taken down just as I was about to order, so I messaged the seller. He relisted it as a toy car for me 😄

I sometimes wonder if that's what happening with those weird items, but most stay up for a while so it wouldn't make sense. Glad you've all explained about placeholders!

No. I don't think so. I was just sharing what I'd read. Which I now know is something that has been proven not to be true.

How could you be today years old to only just realise that this was bollocks? Didn't you have the slightest inkling before now that it was nonsense?

The thing about Wayfair is that many of their items are so massively overpriced that the child-smuggling conspiracy actually gained some traction.

The good news is that they don't smuggle children.

The bad news is that they inflate prices so hugely that this literally seemed like a possibility...
