Buyer changing from cash on collection to eBay but can’t make payment

I’ve sold a piece of furniture. The buyer selected cash on collection and then arranged a courier. However now the buyer says because they selected cash on collection they can’t now pay on eBay. They want to pay by PayPal. I want to keep it on eBay. Is there a way round this? I’ve spoken to the courier so it seems legit. Or am I being naive?

Don't do it. They'll tell you to accept the friends and family option which means they will scam you that way.

I also wouldn't accept courier without the buyer present as well, that's another known scam.

Its not you - they've asked for something that wasn't included in the listing. They should have contacted you and agreed the arrangements before they placed the bid. You could cancel the sale, or let it go for 4 days so ebay cancel it for non payment (check if that works with COC).

Thanks both, I’ve cancelled the sale. They came out it with one thing after another so it was clearly a scam.

My friend was scammed out of nearly 1k after being persuaded to use family and friends.... Well done for cancelling op.
