eBay

80% selling fees

I’m looking to sell some things on eBay but preferably not paying their silly fees.

Anyone know where to do this? Can’t seem to find info on eBay itself.

Try Vinted instead

Is vinted easy?

The 80% off final value fees on eBay tends to be every other weekend, from Friday through to Monday. I'm not sure if everyone gets it at the same time or whether it's staggered, but my next one should be coming up on this Friday.

Does this come through your eBay messages? Ah actually I have seen a £1 selling fees message but was last month. Will watch for it again.

Yes it comes in your ebay inbox and you will need to activate it with a click.

Has anyone had this offer this weekend? I always get it every other week and was expecting it today.

I’ve been offered the 70% off this weekend, and I missed the offer a fortnight ago as I was away

It’s not guaranteed to be every fortnight, they seem to come as a trend for a while

This is the first time in as long as I can remember that I haven't had it.

I haven't had one for months and my son gets one every other week.

I'm doing quite well on Vinted but I think you probably get less, even after the fees and not paying for postage.

It's 80% off every fortnight Fri - Mon for me too, via an email invite. I have all my listings on 'buy it now' for the max time of 30 days before the listings renew - the 80% off doesn't carry over upon renewal so every second fortnight when I get the offer I click 'sell a similar item' on each listing to replicate it, delete the original and then post the new listing (if that makes sense?!)

I usually sell around £400 off stuff per month and this means I only pay around 2.5% of this in fees (£10) rather than 12.5% (£50). It's worth it for me to save the £40.

I find whether you get the offer is dependent on your selling standard - one time I had to cancel a few sales due to someone breaking into my car and stealing stuff including the parcels I was about to send. Most unfair, but I didn't get the offer for a year after that!

My reviews are 100% positive and I ship the same or next day. It's slightly bizarre to have been ostracised from the promotions all year!

Ii have two accounts and it was always the one I wasn't using that would get the promotions. So try playing hard to get.

Edited

I didn't realise the fees discount doesn't carry over if renewed.

FFS.

I have a shit tonne of items to have to try to do the replication, deletion thing.

It's on there now
Not everyone gets it you have have to have a certain volume of sales I think
I do get it like clockwork every two weeks

@Palindrone I also 'relist' in the same way as you for unsold items. I found out by accident that the offer was only for 30 days.

I only get 70% off though and have done for ages. It used to be 80% but for some reason I've been downgraded. Still, it's well worth having.

You don't need to duplicate the listings, just end then them relist in bulk. Much quicker. I do tend to reduce things slightly every time I relist, but it's easy on the bulk edit screen.

Where is the bulk edit screen please?

In the seller dashboard/centre?

I only use the app on a mobile (not a pc)

You need to use the desktop website to bulk edit - I do it on my iPad, but it might be tricky if you only have a phone....

On a phone you should manage to get the bulk view by setting the browser to ‘desktop mode’
The method varies depending on browser and could be a settings option when viewing the page - such as “Open in desktop mode”

A curious thing has happened …..

I was running at 70% off as mentioned earlier in this thread, but my next offer came in at 80% and they were coming in at regular fortnights until this year.
I would have expected an offer on new years weekend but had none, still none last weekend, and for the fortnight would be due this weekend.

I just had a look through my past offer messages to check the dates as to whether I could be expecting it in today as notice for tomorrow and accidentally clicked on my last 80% offer 4 weeks ago - and got the ‘accepted offer’ screen, then clicked again to see which confirmed that ‘I’ve already accepted’ an offer period from midnight until 2359 on Monday!

If you’re missing an expected offer take a look back into your old messages
