I want to buy a sofa on ebay i don't drive so I'm limited in how far I can travel to pay does anyone know if people accept PayPal for a sofa that I can then send a van to collect? I think people say not to accept PayPal for items that are collected? Just trying to think how else I could do it as not much in my area and can't travel miles to just pay for a sofa. If you was seeing a sofa on ebay would you accept PayPal? (I know I can ask them but want to get the general idea before sounding cheeky)

I sold some furniture on eBay & the buyer hired a ‘man with van’ to collect it. It’s already paid for so I was happy with that, although it was around 5 years ago & there weren’t so many scammers then I don’t think. You would have to ask the seller though. The alternative would be to ride with the man & van to collect and pay cash I suppose.

I would never, as a seller, accept PayPal for an item that is collected in person. There's nothing stopping the buyer opening an "item not received" case, I have no proof of postage/courier and so the buyer will get refunded by eBay. I've lost my item and my money. As a buyer if you're genuine then it would be fine from your point of view but as a seller I wouldn't accept this as an option.

Thanks i have young children so can't go with the person as I have no one to watch them.

Give the person who is picking it up the cash to pay for it

I will be getting someone on Facebook not someone I know personally. I think I will just save up and buy new

I would message the seller prior to bidding on it if I were you. I'd imagine some will and some won't.
