Seller told me money from my purchase is going to a war

I bought a pink Nike vest from a seller on Ebay. I am very angry as after the purchase the seller dispatched my item then sent a private message to say he is using the money from my purchase to fund a war. I don't believe in violence and don't want to fund any wars. There was no mention of the war in the advert. How can I get my money back? There was no need for him to have inboxed me that.

Really?

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 21/06/2023 19:18

Maybe it’s a typo?

BeeCucumber · 21/06/2023 19:19

Minecraft?

Maybe it’s a typo?

He went into further details and said it will pay for the army men etc.

Send a copy of the note to eBay. Let them deal with it. If there is nothing wrong with the item , and it is as described you can’t really claim a refund. You could ask for one, but the seller could refuse , and even if they refunded you they would probably ask you to return the goods at your own expense, and possibly keep your original postage.

Riiiiiight

JuneWind · 21/06/2023 19:22

Blimey, how expensive was the vest if it’s funding a whole war?

Whenwillitallmakesense · 21/06/2023 19:22

You wouldn't want any of your money going towards supporting the Ukraine, for example, to help the people defend themselves, to house, feed and clothe families who have been bombed out of their homes through no fault of their own?

You better stop paying your taxes in that case as we're all helping to fund a war in reality.

AngryBirdsNoMore · 21/06/2023 19:22

Ukraine?

BlameItOnTheGoose · 21/06/2023 19:22

I would ignore that. It sounds like a prank or a delusion. I don't think armies rely on eBay sellers for funding. If you're deeply connected, report it to eBay.

Readyplayerthr33 · 21/06/2023 19:23

I guess his shop is raising funds to support soldiers, not raising funds to support a specific war effort but to support soldiers and provide equipment and gifts etc.

You need to grow up.

😂

Bemoreatticus · 21/06/2023 19:24

I'm not sure the profit from the sale of a pink Nike vest is going to fund many armies. It's either a wind up or a weirdo surely.

bibbityboppityboo · 21/06/2023 19:25

Bloody hell how much did you pay for the vest for it to fund a war?

EmmaGrundyForPM · 21/06/2023 19:25

but you never know what your purchases are funding - it could be someone's drug habit, their political party membership fees, anything really.

My son sold my ancient 4x4 last year, it was going to cost too much money to put it through an MOT. The guy who turned up to buy it had flown in from Lithuania and was driving it off to the Ukraine. Turned out he was some sort of dealer who worked on behalf of the Ukranian Army buying 4x4s and driving them there.

Maskbailey · 21/06/2023 19:47

Thank you all for your perspectives. Just wish he didn't message me about it otherwise I would not have known. He should have kept quiet.

I'd not be buying Nike. They don't know what a woman is. My son has boycotted them he is so angry about men in woman's sport.

Newname47 · 21/06/2023 20:32

Report him to eBay?

julia09 · 21/06/2023 21:15

Off subject, but can we please stop using "the Ukraine" - the name of the country is Ukraine. Continuing to refer to it as "the" Ukraine is a throwback to old USSR days.

Don’t worry- Zelensky calls it the Ukraine when he’s speaking English. Best to avoid but I wouldn’t beat yourself up about it.

AlfietheSchnauzer · 21/06/2023 23:20

Have you been taking something, OP?!?

If not then it sounds like a wind up! If it was real I'm pretty sure they wouldn't be openly informing everyone! 🤣

Thank you! As another poster said, it's not massively offensive but I do know that some Ukrainian people can get quite upset about it. A lot of people don't realise that (and until a few years ago, I didn't either) so I'm doing my best to spread the word!

TheSeaDoesntKnowMyName · 22/06/2023 09:30

should reply with either "good so is the T shirt, will be wearing it on my tours of xxx" or "fab, i have made a donation in your name to stop the wars campaign"
