Buyer offer on similar item they are selling

I have just listed one of ds's designer label items on eBay and have received an offer from someone selling a similar coat.

My alarm bells are ringing. Am I overthinking this, or would you be suspicious that they are selling a similar coat of the same size, but wanting to buy mine at a significantly reduced price?

Anyway, I will decline as they are fairly new with ebay score of less than 20. In the old days, you used to be able to set buyer's requirements.

I'm suspicious of anything ebay related these days unfortunately. Too many scammers and zero support from eBay when things go wrong. Obviously they're still happily racking in fees though.

I would just assume they were buying and selling for profit. Lots of people do it, including myself. The one that they are selling, they may have bought solely for the purpose of re-selling it.

I don't mind that they resell it for profit, but I'm a bit wary of newbies, who may claim all sorts to get a refund or return a similar item that is in poor condition.
