Mildly irritating seller

I bought an item last week. It arrived OK so I left feedback. Today I got a rather peremptory message from them:

Hi
Please leave positive feedback at your earliest convenience,
Many thanks

I rechecked my feedback to make sure I had sent it (I had) but I realised they hadn't left me any (not that I'm bothered).

I replied saying I left fb the day I received it but that I had noticed that they hadn't reciprocated - they didn't reply but they did leave me fb almost immediately.

I thought sellers weren't supposed to do this, have I got it wrong?

Its an automatic message that you can set up in your ebay settings. It just gets peoples back up imo and they should scrap it, because as you say it still gets sent even after you've left feedback.
I think its really cheeky when you haven't left a buyer any feedback and its one of the many small irritants that make ebay less fun than it could be.

Ah, thank you, I hadn't realised it was an automated message - pity he doesn't have a more polite one then if he is sending it to everyone.

It just reminded me of the early days when sellers would send you a message saying that they would leave positive fb for you once you had left positive fb for them. I always found it vaguely threatening and they don't seem to do it now.
