just got an email from someone i purchased items from saying item had been dispatched. All good and have no reason to doubt the seller at all but on the bottom of the email was this.....

''Once your item arrives in satisfactory condition, please leave feedback for
me. I have STORED your feedback on the system , should you leave a positive
feedback it will be released automatically. This system is used for speed
only , to ensure parcels are despatched to you ASAP. It also insures YOUR
FEEDBACK is not forgotten.
IF YOU DO NOT LEAVE FEEDBACK - THEN THE SYSTEM WILL RETAIN YOURS.
(ITS ALL AUTOMATED!)''

this to me is saying unless i leave POSITIVE feedback he wont leave mine.
Doesnt this go against ebay policy????

I don't think that could actually happen - I think he's bluffing. He is also abusing the feedback system - and I would report him to Ebay.

yes, if you don't leave positive then nothig wuill be left for you.
I think a lot of big sellers on there do it because it's quicker than having to go through it all individually and leave feedback

bit unfair really I guess, but no-one is under any obligation to leave feedback for anyone else so it isn't against rules.
and it doesn't stop you leaving negative/neutral if you think they deserve it (in which case they prob wouldn't leave you positive anyway, so it sdoesn't matter)

i'd report him to ebay.

doesn't sound kosher.

well for sellers that send lots of items at once it is easier and many do this

it just means once you leave positive it automatically leaves yours and if you dont then they will contact you regarding any fault with item

as you would contact them if a fault with item before leaving negative anyway and if all is ok you'll leave positive and it'll automatically send you a responce

and if no feedback recieved from you it will not send yours as its automated

some people who sell lots of items dont have time to send individual feedback

Leaving feedback is used to give others some insight into what sort of person they are dealing with, it is not comulsory to do so. Lots of power sellers and large companies use an automated system for speed and efficiency, imo there's really nothing to be worried about!

this is part of an ebay thing - one of the subscription services.
it's how feedback works - you leave FB and it auto gets left for you
