Sick of ebay. Yet another item not received. I send everything tracked. Couldn't find the receipt.
Seriously thinking of removing all my listings.

The thieves being the people who say they didn't receive the parcels, not ebay.
The number of buyers who try to claim is too high. I usually have the tracking info, but on this occasion I must have lost it.

I stopped selling on eBay for this reason. It's a scammers' paradise

KirstenBlest · 21/10/2022 08:37

It's almost like I can tell which items will 'not be delivered'. Branded items.
I am kicking myself about the receipt as I'm usually so careful.

What do you use instead, @Clymene ?

Did you not add the tracking to the delivery on eBay?

ZeroFuchsGiven · 21/10/2022 08:46

Why didnt you upload the tracking straight way?

KirstenBlest · 21/10/2022 09:01

Because I couldn't find the receipt.

Facebook marketplace

Switch to vinted (turning off royal mail unless small parcel or above for tracking). And Facebook marketplace

OP you have to accept partial blame for this one. Get home and take a photgraph of the recept and always put them in the same place. Then even if you manage to lose it you will still have a photo to upload the tracking code with.

Hooverphobe · 24/10/2022 08:38

I sold a low-value item because I really needed the cash. It was quite niche so I cross-referenced the username with Etsy - guess what I found? Obviously ebay refunded them anyway…

Guiltypleasures001 · 24/10/2022 08:47

We buy our postage through eBay it's cheaper and tracking uploaded automatically

ToadSmall · 24/10/2022 08:49

I stopped years ago after selling twelve items (kilo bags of Lego) and nearly every single one had a problem. Mostly that they never received it.

I just leave stuff at the end of my drive now for people to take if they want or I just throw them away.

KirstenBlest · 24/10/2022 11:22

@OhSunnyMorning , I do accept blame because I lost the receipt before I got home.
I send lots of parcels, yet it's always the ebay ones that don't arrive, even though they are sent signed for.
Not unusual to send out 4 items and have one or two of them claimed as not received, even though they're tracked.

If it had happened once or twice, I could put it down to bad luck, but it happens a lot.

There are certain items that seem to attract the CFs. Usually used, branded items. They'll say it's 'not as described', 'doesn't seem authentic' or 'not arrived'.
With the first two, they'll try to get a free return, or a discount.

I've had this before. Someone messaged me daily saying that they hadn't received the item, even though it had only just been posted.

I put the tracking number into eBay, but accidentally typed one digit incorrectly and so the tracking wasn't showing. The buyer opened an item not received case.

I then found the receipt and corrected the tracking number and it showed that the item had been delivered and signed for days ago!!

EBay closed the case in my favour and I never heard from the buyer again. Some people try this on constantly.

Make sure you put in the feedback that the buyer was refunded for the item as it wasn't received. I've also had a case where someone claimed item not received and when I checked their feedback, I could see that they had done this multiple times!!

KirstenBlest · 06/12/2022 13:56

I put in the feedback now. It happened again last week.

Branded item that is one that someone would search for.
Relatively cheap item for brand, but not one of the most popular styles.
Whole calendar month from purchase.
Item mysteriously 'found' when I gave the tracking number, but I'd already reported the buyer and left feedback before I gave it.
The wording in the refund request was a bit suspicious.
