Funds on hold

I have recently started listing a few items on ebay after not having done so for years.

The first item has sold and I have been told my money is on hold for a couple of weeks as I have not sold for a long time which I can understand.

It says uploading a tracking number is helpful but I do not intend to pay extra for recorded delivery on a cheap sale. If I obtain a post office receipt for standard second class can this reference be uploaded?

Hi,

I only update a recorded/special delivery package reference. I also don't send recorded delivery if it is a cheap sale item.

Just keep hold of the post office receipt just in case buyer ever advises that they haven't received the item.

Happy selling!

If it’s a small parcel or larger with Royal Mail, then you can send non signed for, and you will get a reference number that will show you if your item has been delivered. You can enter this as a tracking number as it will count as proof that the item was delivered, in the event of a dispute.

you won’t get this with a letter / large letter though.

I had this as well. Its a piece of nonsense. Ive been a member for over 15 years and have sold stuff many times before. It took over 2 weeks to get my money

That is interesting

Why in that case would somebody use the signed for service rather than this?

Do I go into the post office ask for basic second class and the receipt will always come with a reference number that can proove delivery? The item is about 10cm x 25cm.

It is about 7cm deep too so will not be going as a letter.

Yes its called the parcel number, I've never tried to enter it as the tracking number though.

Yep when you send a parcel at the post office by standard post you get a receipt with a reference number and you can put this in on ebay as the tracking number. It won't show the status of the parcel or anything like that but it does say when it has been delivered. Have used it a few times when selling and buyers have opened an Item Not Recieved case and Ebay have sided with me as a result. (I've only sold mainly low value stuff and have always used just standard second class.)

Ps if it goes through as a 'large letter' rather than a small parcel then you don't get a reference number.
