The new but not new payment process - Help me understand

Can anybody explain to me how this works? I left Ebay when they decided to start the management payments method but I am losing the will to live getting rid of things on Facebook Marketplace.

Do I just need to add my bank account details to ebay or are there other things that I need to do?

Secondly what is the situation with pending payments? Is it right that payments are not received until you have posted out the sold items? Are there ever any difficulties with this?

I had to enter my bank details and also send a scan of my current statement. They sent an amount to my account and I had to verify how much that was.

In the early days there was sometimes trouble getting paid; they would say the money had been sent out and it never arrived in my account. I think that happened 5 or 6 times. I had to contact Customer Services and chase them up.

Getting paid is similar to Pay Pal, you have to build up trust with them so they don't pay you straight away at first, even if your account has been open some time. I found that pretty difficult. I mainly sent things out signed for so there couldn't be any problems with buyers claiming the item hadn't arrived and it worked out expensive.
I dislike the new system but I'm pretty much stuck with ebay because all of the local charity shops have closed.
