How long do you wait for payment?

Somebody put a bid on an item I was selling a couple of weeks ago. The auction ended a few days after, so I wait for payment. Anyway, it's been a week and I've sent a reminder a couple of days ago and still haven't had any communication, so I've had to cancel the transaction.

Why would anyone bid and not pay or communicate with the seller if there was a reason for delay or even if it's because they've changed their mind?

Complete waste of time!

There are so many time wasters on ebay now that I have it set to the shortest time possible. It used to be 48 hours but ebay changed it recently so its 4 days. You can sort it out in your settings. Ebay take care of everything, and non payers automatically get a black mark on their account. You can also stop them from bidding if they have more than 2 non payments recorded.
(I once got a salty email from someone complaining they had been prevented from bidding on an item they wanted, and they would have bid higher than the winner. But at least the winner paid for their item...)
