Amateur seller - best thing to do?

I'm selling a vintage dress on eBay - belonged to my mother. Not really my style, hence the sale. I haven't put a reserve on it, but after 12 hrs of being on, I've been offered nearly £200 for it. Am I likely to get more?

Also, completely by the by, the person offering has addressed me as a short form of my username - like if my name was Joanna3726 on eBay, she's written to me as Jo. DOES SHE KNOW ME...?

Fashion is definitely not my area of expertise but as a general rule we find if someone offers early on ebay then the price is likely to go higher. Not always true but more often than not. How many watchers does the item have as this is another clue to the level of interest and if it is likely to go up in price.

Have you had a look on advanced search for similar items? You can filter by sold and then list highest price first to see what similar things have sold for.

@OneInEight Thank you for your reply. Currently got 20 watchers, 5 bids, so I'm inclined to decline the early offer and see what comes in.

@oreosoreosoreos Took me three goes to work out what your username says...

Yes, have done that. It's a relatively unusual piece, so nothing identical, but a few similar items. Argh! Totally torn!

Its a question of balance. I asked to end an auction last week for £120. Seller declined and I won for £82. Happy days for me but wonder if they were kicking themselves.

If there are bids on the item, you shouldn't end the auction to sell to that person. Whatever you do, don't end the auction then sell to them outside of ebay, you wont get any seller protection.
