Feedback etiquette

What is the normal accepted etiquette re feedback?

As a fairly new seller, i'm not sure whether i'm supposed to leave feedback first, or wait for the buyer to leave feedback then do it. I only ask as i sold a few items a few weeks ago and got a bit eager and left instant feedback (positive), and neither buyer has left me any. I've just sold a few more bits but only had 2 feedbacks from the items so far, and i'm wondering if its going to turn into a feedback 'stand-off'?!?

personally as a seller I leave feedback when I have received it, as a buyer I leave it when I have received the item and Im happy with it

I make it a point of principle not to let other people's feedback have any effect on the feednack I leave. As a buyer, I leave feedback when I have recieved the item. As a seller, I leave it when I post. I think Ebay only works if feedback is related to the transaction, not to the other person's feedback, IYSWIM. But I suspect I am in a minority of one!

I pretty much leave feedback as soon as i've rec'd payment for an item i'm selling or received the item i bought.

Always chase up people who don't bother leaving feedback with a polite "could you please leave me feeback? Thanks"

I hate the whole feedback standoff thing, and it always, always seems to be me leaving it forst, no moatter wheather I'm the seller or buyer.

Feedback should be left at the end of the transaction. Remember that payment is only the start of the transaction, not the end.
When a buyer receives the item and is happy they should let the seller know, feedback being the easiest way to do this and then the seller, knowing that the transaction is complete can leave feedback for the buyer.

Chasing feedback is a definite no-no.

Feedback is optional.

Some sellers leave it in batches.
Some sellers use the ebay tool which automates feedback - once fb received it auto places Fb for the buyer

I leave feedback in batches when i get a chance to do them all.
I have one buyer who is emailing every bloody day with the same message LEAVE FEEDBACK PLEASE. And yes it is in capitals and i am ignoring it because i don't like being pushed to leave it when i am not ready!
