As a seller, how do you fight against unreasonable refund requests? Item description/title etc all states the item for sale, buyer receives item and now decides it isn't what they thought it was and is requesting a refund despite the item clearly being described. There's no option to fight this, what do I do? I've also clearly stated no refunds on the sale. Help!

You just have to accept ebay's decision.

It is annoying. An example I had was a pair of sheepskin boots that apparently weren't as described because they weren't suede.

It is a ballache now, I agree. I sold a BNWOT Monsoon top, genuinely brand new without tags and never worn. Woman obviously liked it, top was very, very obviously in the condition I described and received in condition I sent it as she wore the damn item as she then messaged to say she had ripped it and I owed her a refund Hmm

Ebay fecking sided with her. 🤦🏻‍♀️
Painful.

I have pretty much given up selling on there now. I’ve heard too many horror stories. I’d rather give the stuff to charity!

I’ve been contemplating Vinted, has anyone sold on there? Is it any better I wonder?

Clymene · 19/01/2022 19:44

EBay is pointless now. I wouldn't ever sell on there again. Vinted is much better

Flocon · 19/01/2022 19:46

Oh this sounds a nightmare. I've been ok so far touch wood. But feels like only a matter of time.

Puppylucky · 19/01/2022 19:50

How does anyone ever actually sell anything on Vinted though? I've had a coat on there for months which has been favourited by about 30 people but no one actually makes an offer! I've tried starting a conversation and following people but no luck. Am I missing something?

BrokenCopper · 19/01/2022 19:50

I only do pickup only now, sellers are not protected.

drpet49 · 19/01/2022 19:56

@Puppylucky I have the same experience using Vinted. I’ve only sold 2 items on there.

You pay more fees if you fight it --so don't . Unjustified returns is just a hazard of doing 'business' on eBay. I have an item stuck with MyHermes because buyer didn't understand collection instructions, couldn't organise self to go collect from the depot (returned to Hermes after 10 days). I keep forgetting to ring Hermes & beg them to send it back. I'm £4.50 out of pocket on that one so far.

Hi, i experienced similar, I reported the buyer and appealed the decision. It automatically went the buyers way so I then contacted eBay and spoke to customer services who agreed with me that it was a false refund claim and I got to keep my money. Customer services said it will always go the way of the buyer no matter what you do so I'd suggest reporting the buyer and contacting customer services

BrendaNeedsAHaircut · 26/01/2022 16:06

Not sure what happened with the false refund claim 🤷🏼‍♀️

SarahJessicaParker3 · 26/01/2022 16:10

I've sold on vinted and had a dispute settled in my favour. The woman who bought it from me said it wasn't the fabric I claimed. It said 100% on the label which I had photographed and put on the listing. When I said this to her she said "well I don't like it. It isn't what that fabric is normally like so I need to arrange a refund". I said she would need to bring it up with Vinted, which she did and I did get my money in the end with minimal fuss from Vinted.

Thelnebriati · 28/01/2022 15:35

Insist on a return, don't just refund her. 9/10 cheeky fuckers just want the item free and will drop it if they have to go to the bother of returning it.
And watch your feedback, if she leaves snippy feedback you can leave a factual reply.

Reduce the price, then everyone who has favoured it,will get a message.

I've had the exact same thing this week with a garment which I put the size up but stated that it comes up small. Woman buys it and then says it's not the right size. I don't want her fucking up my ratings as I don't use Ebay very often, so I've said I'll refund her once I receive it back from her. PITA.
